Building Our Church

St Paul’s Blue Church’s history is interwoven into the growth and development of the Lehigh Valley.  The Lehigh Valley was settled in the first half of the 18th century. Settlers were primarily German, English and Welsh in the Upper Saucon area. Coopersburg was settled by Mennonites from Holland. The valley soon became a center of cooperation among Mennonites, Moravians, Lutheran and Reformed traditions for worship.

Although there is historical evidence indicating that Lutheran Christians had moved into the Saucon Valley and began worshipping together as early as 1732, the first recorded meeting of the Saucon (Blue) Church congregation occurred on November 18, 1739. The congregation charter was established on September 29, 1739.  Some Blue Church records indicate baptisms in 1739.

Building Our Ministries

St Paul’s continues to respond to the needs of our community.  In Ecumenical partnership with other congregations, we serve at Betty Lou’s Food Pantry, raise fund for the Samaritan Fund, write Valentine’s cards for our shut-ins and those in a local nursing home, and gather gifts for the children of families in need at Christmas.
